Independent Baby - 14 months
The Independent Baby
It has become very apparent that you are pretty much a
toddler now. You eat real food, you no longer use bottles, you talk, you walk,
you sing and you look less and less like my little cherub every day. Cue the
tears. In 14 short months you have
progressed far beyond what I have ever imagined a baby would. It is amazing to
see you grow!

This month you have taken it to a whole new level. Just when
we thought we had you all figured out, little miss independent surfaces….along
with the tantrums and signs of discontent. Usually it happens when you are
tired. The big fallouts come because you cannot figure out how to put your baby
doll inside of a teeny-tiny fire truck, or you cannot get the circle Tupperware lid to
fit on the square Tupperware, or you cannot shove all of the play apples,
balls, coins and cups into you itty bitty purse. Ohh….so it begins. We offer to
show you how things work, but you have become VERY independent and want to do
it all by yourself. I cannot help but giggle, but you get very upset.
This month you pretty much figured out what it means to
walk. You walk/run all over the house and are very mobile. Your new favorite spot
is the pantry. It holds your new favorite foods….”crackers and cookies.” The
funniest thing happened the other night. You walked into the pantry and grabbed
a box of dry Ranch Dressing. With pride you walked it into the living room and
gave it to daddy. He looked at you puzzled and said, “what is this”? With a
smile you pointed at it and said, “cracker!” You knew that the crackers were in
the pantry and you wanted one. Daddy started laughing and told you that those
were not crackers. He took you back to the pantry and retrieved a cracker for
you. You shrieked and clapped when he gave it to you. We had a big laugh! Still to this day you go
into the pantry and pull out random food boxes and bring them to us in hopes
that you found the cracker stash.
You are baby obsessed! You kiss, hug, feed and throw them. You walk around with them in your arms like you are their momma! Most evenings we "play" babies in the living room. You love to take care of them!
You also continue to mimic every word we say. I find it absolutely adorable when you say blueberries/strawberries and pillow. You love blueberries and strawberries. You point to the refrigerator and say "burries" when you want them. You also like to pull the pillows off the couch and lay on them. You will pat them, say "low-low" and then lay your sweet head down on them.
