First Day of Montessori School
You started Montessori School today. It is just about a mile from our house. I have been doing my best to get you prepared for what is to come. We talk about new friends, toys and teachers, we even have a few books about it that you like. But today I realized, that you are not the one I should be concerned about. It is myself.
Your daddy and I took you to meet your new teacher, Jama and the other kiddos this morning. You were very amused at all the new toys and learning materials. You were somewhat quiet as you took it all in. A few times you pointed and shouted out things you proudly recognized like the play kitchen, a photo of Olaf and Llama, Llama. Other than that you clung tight to me and I did the same right back.
After introducing you to your classroom, which had a pint sized potty, we took you down the hall to meet the other kids. This is the room you will start in each morning. All the kiddos were playing with puzzles and sitting in mini chairs that are just your size. With a little help, I was able to get you settled with a puzzle. You wanted me to sit in the little chair with you, and didn't want me to leave. You kept saying, "Sit, mama....Play, mama....Stay, mama." I was on the verge of tears when daddy interjected and helped me to get out of there before the tears came....and ohhh did they come. All the way to work and while at work, all day off and on, it wouldn't stop.
The entire day I worried and wondered about you. At 4:00 I got the call that your daddy couldn't wait any longer and he picked you up. He said when we got there, you were sitting with the other kids doing flash cards. When you saw him, you ran to him and said..."daddddyyyy!!!"
When I got home from work you were very happy to see me and to get back into our night time routine. You are going to have so much fun at school. I know it is hard, for both of us, but I cannot wait for you to tell me all about your adventures at school everyday.
