Knox | Coming Soon

I haven't feel very good since my doctors appointment on Wednesday. I haven't slept and I can barely get around I am so uncomfortable. I still have about two and a half weeks to go, so I just sucked it up and tried to keep my routine as normal as possible. Today after work, I took Hadley to the park after I picked her up from school. She is so big. She went down both big slides for the first time and barely needed any assistance playing....which to my normal dismay,  was a relief.

Thursday night was also pretty rough, but knowing I was going to be off work for Good Friday definitely made it easier for me to rest. I have been having Braxton Hicks contractions ever since I left the doctors office on Wednesday, but they have been so sporadic, I didn't think much about it.

Friday morning I had whole team with me to assist in getting Hadley downtown to see Disney on Ice. Once again, I am so happy that Hadley loves her family so much, she didn't want much to do with me and instead wallered Rah-Rah, Mimi and Papa throughout the entire show. As I waddled back to the car, I couldn't help but notice my cramps were getting more frequent.

To much of my disappointment, at lunch we decided that it might not be he best idea to head to Rich Hill for the Easter weekend since I was feeling so rough. Just in case Knox wanted to come early, I didn't want to be over an hour away from the hospital. As we made arrangements for Mimi and Papa to bring all of the fun Easter goodies to our house, I started counting my contractions. I knew I was uncomfortable, but for over and hour my contractions were under 5 minutes apart and lasted about 45 seconds. When I called the doctor, the asked that I come in. I was somewhat in shock, but figured we should be safe that sorry.

Reality quickly set in on our drive to Menorah Medical. I couldn't help but start to feel scared and also had an overwhelming sense of abandonment towards Hadley. It was all so surreal and the emotions were coming fast...I wasn't prepared for him to come so early.

When we checked into the hospital, the contractions were getting more and more painful. Once the nurses checked my dilation around 7:30, they said I was dilated to 3 cm and 80% effaced. Since I wasn't far enough along in my pregnancy, I was going to have to naturally dilate, because they couldn't induce me. Sure enough, a little over an hour later  I had naturally made progress so they decided to admit me into the hospital. This meant that a baby was COMING!

We made all the calls and told everyone Knox was on his way, a few weeks early! What a "Good Friday" this was turning into.

It took a few hours for me to get my epidural and boy was I happy when I received it. I had some issues with it taking on the left side, but the nurses helped me through it and got me relief very quickly.

That night Jared slept on the couch by my side soundly. I couldn't sleep at all. All I could think about was work and how hungry I was. I sent out about 100 emails and was able to get the nurses to give me a few Popsicles to help curb my hunger.

By 8:00 in the morning I was almost fully dilated and I was time to get ready for Knox to arrive. The team of nurses came in and before we knew it it was go time!
